Ododo Press is a small publisher based in Uganda, East Africa. It is an imprint of Dilstories Limited, a film and media production house, and was founded by Dilman Dila, who returns to publishing after a break of about ten years. He has always been passionate about books, and is keen on making them available to people in his country at an affordable cost.

What We Publish

We are interested mostly in speculative fiction stories, anything that can be categorized as Africanfuturism, Afrofuturism, Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, Solarpunk, and Hopepunk. We also publish non-fiction about the folk-lore, as well as traditional and contemporary arts and cultures, of African people. We are not just interested in portraying Africans in a positive manner, but we love stories that rewrite the histories that have been erased, and stories that imagine how those recovered histories can influence our future.

We focus on digital books, eBooks and audiobooks, since the cost of these can be kept low to ensure readers in Africa enjoy books. We will print small numbers for distribution, especially in and around East Africa, though we will rely on print-on-demand services to deliver to readers who prefer physical copies of works.

Audio Production

Since our parent company is a film studio, we can offer services to authors, from any part of the world, who want to convert their books into audiobooks, at very affordable and author-friendly rates. In case you want an audiobook, send us an email and let’s discuss. Otherwise we are not a self-publishing company. Paying us to make your audio-book does not make us the publishers of that audio-book.

Privacy Policy

If you purchase books or audio books directly from us, your name, email address, telephone number (if you use the mobile money option), and a transaction history will be kept by us. We may use the contact information to let you know about the status of your order, updates, or to inform you about similar products in future. This data is never shared with any 3rd party.

AI Policy

We are radically anti gen AI. Anything you see on this site is wholly written and produced by human beings. The only automation we use are in programs like Blender, Davinci Resolve, and Krita, tools that make it easier for a person to produce digital artworks using resources on their local computer. We will not produce audiobooks, however much you are paying, that were written by AI, or written with the assistance of AI.
